Research project on women with gestational diabetes

The Trust conducted a month-long research project with women visiting Matru Sewa Sangh, Nagpur for pregnancy care and conditions like diabetes and other non-communicable diseases. We conducted the research with Shivani Satpute, a MSW student at Matru Sewa Sangh's College of Social Work.

We found that the biggest burden for families often arises due to the financial factors related to delivery. A single delivery can cost up to ₹30,000 at the minimum, in addition to expenses for tests, consultations, and ongoing care during pregnancy.

With this insight, we added a pillar to our outreach to provide financial assistance to women who need it most, especially those managing high-risk pregnancies.

One example of this was our support to a mother in Nagpur delivering her third child via C-section. Her husband works as a daily wage labourer, and the cost of surgical delivery was beyond their means. The Trust was able to cover the entire cost of the delivery for the patient.
